DESCRIPTION:The Opportunity\n\nThe Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo's Planning & Development Services Division is currently engaging on the draft Land Use Bylaw and is seeking feedback from the business community. Join us for a brief presentation and question-and-answer session on July 17\, 2024\, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.\n\n \n\nWhy is the RMWB engaging on this now?\n\nThe current Land Use Bylaw (LUB) has been in place since 1999. A new bylaw has been drafted\, based on extensive consultation since 2016\, reflecting feedback from residents\, Indigenous communities and partners\, engagement participants and council. The draft LUB was brought forward to Council seeking approval in April 2021\, at which time Council redirected Administration to re-engage with the community.\n\n \n\nPlanning and Development Services intends to bring the updated draft LUB to Council in fall 2024. In May and June 2024\, the RMWB hosted several in-person\, virtual and online engagement opportunities to update the public\, business community\, internal partners\, and community groups about the draft Land Use Bylaw\, validate previous input\, and collect feedback. The project team is currently offering additional one-on-one meetings with targeted stakeholder groups. They are reviewing the draft bylaw and public input and will adjust the draft Land Use Bylaw where possible or necessary.\n\n \n\nSome highlights for business:\n\nThe updated Land Use Bylaw is a pro-business and pro-development document. The language and format of the bylaw have been improved to make it easier to understand for residents\, investors\, and developers alike. Highlights include:\n\n\n Consolidated commercial districts to remove redundancies\n Modified regulations to facilitate development\n Updated sections and regulations to add clarity\n\n\n \n\nHow you can provide feedback\n\nPlease visit the Land Use Bylaw page to learn more and to review the draft bylaw.
