Thousands of patients have received an advanced level of care in situations such as motor vehicle collisions\, workplace incidents\, medical emergencies and recreational vehicle crashes. In October 2013 the Local HERO (Helicopter Emergency Response Organization) Foundation was established as a non-profit organization to provide funding for the program. This Mexican Fiesta is presented by the Local HERO Foundation in support of helicopter emergency medevac services for Northeastern Alberta. In order to continue the essential rapid response medevac services across the region\, the operational costs such as fuel\, oil\, filters\, mechanical repairs\, replacement and overhaul to have the medevac helicopter available must be supported through fundraisers. This event features a live Mariachi band\, a 50/50 draw\, a photobooth\, a LIVE auction of exciting and unique items\, a "donkey pinata pull" with the chance to win unique tequilas\, and a 6-piece dance band to finish out the evening.
